DallasLiving, I love your work! It's truly beautiful. :)
|
I agree with ya BlueSwede
Excellent work Dallas! |
Before my 2nd child was born, I made stained glass windows, painted Norwegian rosemaling, cross-stitched, and collected wild edible plants (a good excuse to be outdoors and in the woods). Didn't have a chance to do much of anything once she came along. I also read everything nonfiction that I could get my hands on. Today I still read all the time; my favorite area to read and apply is Myers-Briggs personality theory. Oh, and I used to collect old cartoons on VHS, none older than mid to late '50s.

Thank you both. And I know how you feel, BlueSwede. Real life just intrudes to much on our fun. My drawings used to be my way of relaxing. Hmmmmmm, maybe that is why I seem so strung out at times, no time to relax lately. Or hell, maybe it is just the lack of sex. LMAO |
I see we have sometime in common Dallas. Used to draw to relieve stress now haven't got time to do it any more to much stress. Hope all is well on your end.

I paint watercolours, I cannot post many as they have been scanned and are very big files. But here is one that I took with a camera.
I painted it for Horseman12, its his palamino, he has the painting now. |

Very nice! I especially like the red and tiger's eye. :)

I'll be anxious to be able to read for pleasure again, once school is done and I no longer have to look at a frigging textbook...
Since I got a nice camera for my birthday last year, I would like to try experimenting with some outdoor photography. I also enjoy writing poetry and would like to now revise a novella that I wrote in high school. College has taken up so much of my time that now I'll hopefully have time to start up some hobbies! |
I am an avid reader and music afficianado. However, work and family conspire to deprive me of the time for both. But I enjoy my children and their activities, so it's fair to say they are my main hobby currently.

I fuss around with the ol' 66 Cuda. I don't have any exterior shots handy, but you can look at the engine.. and yes, it does need a lot of work still. :p

My hobby is photography
|
...and abstract photography
|
I do all sorts of things (like making soap and other cosmetics from scratch, any kind of cooking, dancing etc) but the hobby that is really in my blood is acting.
Will be on stage all next week performing a 40 minute monologue.....just me......the stage and the audience......perrrrrrrrrfect. :D |
This thread has been so interesting, it deserves a revisit. Maybe we can get updates on some of the projects and hobbies that have been in progress. I think we have enough new Pixie citizens that can add to and take from this to warrant a good

This is how I spent my New Year's Eve. An online group I belong to did this project together beginning at 9 a.m. on NYE. We had no idea what it would look like ahead of time. We got partial instructions in advance and then every hour one more bit of instruction was posted until we got the final "clue" and put it all together. |
Very neat Sugar. :)
Now you have 11 months to work out how we can do something like that next year with a Pixie theme.;) |
I really enjoy doing wood working and wood carving. My carvings are mostly for Christmas, and I focus on Santas. Here are some of mine that I've done!
|
Sounds like fun SS.
Skyler~ they are lovely! What do you paint them with? |
Lilith, thanks. :D I just use a latex crafter's paint. nothing fancy. I usually dilute them about 50% with water so that you can tell it's real wood underneath. Occassionally, I'll coat them with a VERY diluted burnt umber paint to give them an aged look.
|
Have you tried crackle medium? I have done a lot with it and love someof the results.
|

|
Well here's my pride and joy!!!!!:)

Reading and going to the gym mostly. I also (occasionally) perform Indian (dots, not feathers) classical dance and play jazz trombone.
|
I love to read and do that most of the time but my main hobby is re-enactment of the English Civil War, I am an officer in y regiment have been doing it for 18 years. I have even been over to the USA to re-enact an actual English Civil War related battler that took place in Annapolis. Heres a link to me in costume at a small event. The pic was taken a couple of years ago before I lost some weight.

i've rediscovered counted cross stitch. my mom taught me how to do it back in elementary school when she was working for a well known artist. in the past couple of months, i've made 1.5 christmas presents along with 2 pictures for myself to hang on the wall and have another one i want to do that goes along with that series. i loooove to read (it's great having to read the first 15 min of every class every friday at work), sleep, talk, hang out with my friends when i get a chance, watch movies when i can stay awake and trying to keep myself sane at the moment.
