I'm a knife man myself ... how is the claymore balanced ?

My Wallace sword is the only claymore and it's handle heavy since the blade is thin stainless steel The great sword made by Starfire is blade heavy with the balance point being approx. 5-6 inches up the blade from the hilt.

Ok, sorry it has taken me a while to get started on this project, but my son has decided since I was taking pictures of my collection, he wanted pictures of his collection of Transformers, which meant trying to find all the damn things in his room :rofl:. But I'll post the pics (of my collection that is) as I get them done, hopefully within the next couple of days.

I added an appropriate (at least to me :rofl:) DVD for scale purposes. The first is the full sword, the 2nd is just the hilt, since my crappy little cam doesn't take that great of a picture

Interesting to say the least. Though for some reason I doubt it was Blackbeard's. Traditionally in those times when someone was defeated they surrendered their sword, or at the very least it was taken from them. Then again, Blackbeard could have had several swords and this just one of them that was in his room and subsequently not taken. I guess no one will really know. Not like we can take fingerprints or DNA for testing.

The craftsmanship on the guard is superb

Teach was renowned for carrying a number of blades. A sword of this type may well have taken his fancy, though for practical purposes, a hangar or a cutlass would have been the pick.

Teach also liked his finery. A lot of the classic pirates were like that.


Oh, Lord Snow: Blackbeard refused to ever surrender. Supposedly, Lt Maynard killed him in hand-to-hand combat. More probably, the account given as several of Maynard's crew attacked & killed Teach as Teach was preparing to attack Maynard is what "really" happend. Doesn't really matter, what matters is that Teach was killed, never having wanted to, or been demanded to surrender.
