.......even more.......

dicksbro 02-11-2010 05:05 AM

More great pictures, jbh3 although it looks COLD!

We had a lot of sunshine yesterday and that helped clear off our streets. Still going to be fairly chilly though (highs in the 20's) so we're not going to lose what's on the ground very fast.

It was very cold...19 wind chill....but I was dressed for the occasion! :)

Here's a video guys.....feel free to comment....please use discretion  !!

Thats a lot of freaking snow!!!! Sucks cleaning off your car in that crap.

jseal 02-11-2010 08:25 AM

Yes indeed it does! We dug out our cars on Sunday after the last snowstorm, and I'll be joining many in that effort again today. :yikes:

gekkogecko 02-11-2010 11:38 AM

jbh, I especially enjoyed the pic of the stream: which one is that?

And just in case you get complacent, a repost of somethign I put in my blog this morning:
From the National Weather Service:
Statement as of 6:58 AM EST on February 11, 2010
... Winds will continue blowing and drifting of snow today...

The snow storm is well away from the mid Atlantic coast... but
gusty winds continue across the region this morning. Exposed areas
will continue to experience blowing and drifting of snow
today from surface winds of 20 to 30 mph... causing difficult and
at times... treacherous travel.

Motorists should be alert to rapidly changing Road conditions due
to snow drifting on roads. Motorists should also be prepared to
encounter brief localized white-out conditions.

Don't think that your fancy 4WD SUV will save you from all an sundry: if you can't see, you can't see, and a 4WD vehicle isn't going to let you see. And if you are driving, make sure you clean off the roofs of your vehicles, as well. Blowing snow & ice chunks are a serious hazard to other drivers on the road.

Oh, yes, BTW, this is now "officially" the snowiest winter in DC history, with 55.6" total measured at National airport...though why the powers what is insist that the airport is somehow representative of the DC area is beyond me.

Oldfart 02-11-2010 11:15 PM

Weather stations are at airports and such.

Gekko...Not sure of the name of the stream at that point but it eventually turns into Red House Run....joins with Herring Run and makes its way to Back River.

Here's a link of that bridge in sunnier times!!

"Snow" joins with other 'not nice' 4 letter words!!!

Vicious Tease 02-23-2010 06:31 AM

We're expecting 2-6" of snow today. That may not sound like much to some of you northern Pixies, but here in Texas, that's enough to shut things down for the day.

dicksbro 02-23-2010 06:36 AM

There's a 30% chance we'll get a little tonight and tomorrow, but it doesn't look like any accumulation to speak of.

jseal 02-23-2010 06:50 AM

Mother Nature helped us out yesterday with long, soft rain.

18 inches in my yard right now, and I'm NOT talking about our horse's cock.

:p
