Gunsmoke (another one we all watched as a family) |
Arrgggggggg! I ain't that old I tell ya! But...I do remember ALL the shows mentioned above. I must be reincarnated or something, ya know?
I was also into some local kids shows... Sally Starr Pixanne Gene London Captain Noah One of the very few good memories I have of my father starts out bad...Mom would "take a break" from the 5 of us on Saturday's, and ride the bus to Philly to shop and do whatever, and dad would have to "watch us". Most times he'd get so overwhelmed with 5 kids to keep in line and he'd end up spanking someone and sending us to bed early (around 6-7pm). We'd all take turns (whoever's week it was) and go down and ask, "Could we please come down and watch The Jackie Gleason Show or The Honeymooner's. We'll be good...we promise!" Sooner or later he'd give in and let us out of our rooms to see the show. Most times we actually were good and we got to see the whole show! Who remembers the June Taylor Dancers? Or the time Jackie Gleason broke his arm on stage? "And awayyyyyyyyyyyy we go"! |
Jackie Gleason was good but my favorite was Red Skelton... damn that man was funny. Gertrude and Heathcliffe, Freddie the Freeloader, and what was the kid at camp who always sang "Hello Mudder, Hello Fadder..." fond memories of laughter and family. They just don't have shows like that anymore.

At night I watched Sonny & Cher and The Carol Burnett Show
