Irish,It seems that we are both experiencing a shrinking consolidation of the media.Do you have only one cable company to choose from? So do I.Aldelphia swallowed (not in a good way) up the smaller cable companies around here while that crooked Regis family was still ran it.Irony is the only competition is the DISH network.Fox 11 is KTTV channel 11 and Clear Channel is a company that has swallowed (Not in a good way) up most of the comercial radio stations from coast to coast that we listen to.Around here both have gotten the reputation as the official gov't news and propaganda stations. Both have become synonomous with giving one point of view and not providing any alternative views on a given subject.I have to ask,If there ever was a "liberal media" out there somewhere, where did it go? where is it now? It all seems to be run by the major corporations who's views are anything but liberal.I hope you never take what I write here as personal attacks,it is not my intention. But I feel I must challenge what is being said though.

Irish,

I think that what he is suggesting is that the Fox network has a distinctly limited range of coverage, and that you would benefit by including other news sources.

Permit me to suggest the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/), as that provides a non-American view of the world. Additionally it is very current and well written.

Pantyfanatic,

No apologies needed; it is possible for reasonable men to disagree. It is the incendiary statements which fly all too readily these days which I find distracting.

Teddy Bear,

I expose my ignorance: who is this Heath Ledger? Serious beefcake, I presume?

Steph,

Love it! One of the members here has a sig that goes something along the lines that it takes brains to appreciate parody but not to be offended by it. Fox proves the point.

lakritze---Thanks!No,we don't have a choice,in what Cable Co.
we get.The town signed a contract,with Metrocast,so it's the
only one, that anyone in this town, can get.One of my Sons-in-
laws,is an installer for Comcast.He is also,my workout(spotter)
partner & friend.I would much rather have his company because
if,he knows that it's for me,I get immediate service.Plus, his company truck,is stocked with everything, that could be needed on the road as he also troubleshoots. It's the same situation, with
the banks. The neighborhood banks have all been bought by the
giant Banks. Irish
P.S.I STILL have him check everything& do my wiring!

RE: Heath Ledger....an an Aussie actor....starred in 10 things I Hate About You....A Knights Tale....recently in Ned Kelly (with Orlando Bloom *dreamy sigh*)

I stated my thought on this whole war thing in another thread

To be honest i dont believe this topic should be bought up here at Pixies.....we are a multicultural site and as such have a WIDE variety of differing veiws.....and we should respect all members input...politics is dangerous ground to be playing in ppl....not in humankinds lifetime will everybody agree with everybody else...so i think this thread needs to just be let go

Sugarsprinkles,

Indeed so - yet we will always be called to balance our desires for personal freedom against the behavior of those who would, like the terrorists, seek to destroy what our country represents.

As the external threats to our nation increase, so will the calls for "temporary" powers to protect it.

some how I have sat on my icecream cone:p

jseal 10-30-2003 02:13 PM

Sharniqua,

Heath Ledger... A Knights Tale

As in The Canterbury Tales?

Sugarsprinkles 10-30-2003 02:13 PM

jseal,

The trouble is, what is called "temporary" too often becomes permanent. Take income tax, for example. Once something is taken away, how often do we get it back??

Sugarsprinkles,

Yes mam. Few freedoms are free.
