Great pictures. The seashore reminds me of the Illinois River (ROTFLMAO).
Speaking of rivers, no picture of Peoria would be complete without one showing the gambling boat PAR-A-DICE. |

Cataract Gorge

Launceston Tasmania. I live in Launceston, Australia's 3rd oldest city, circa 1806. This gorge is only five minutes from the City centre. A natural amphitheatre. You can see a suspension bridge over the South Esk river. The huge floods of 1929 washed the previous structure away. The basin is very deep and cold. water temp can be as low as 8 degrees C
It is a very popular swimming area in the summer and the grounds have many old trees from many countires. There is a huge american redwood growing there. |
Vampeyes~ Your house is lovely....I would go nuts with a beautiful big place like that!!!
|
dicksbro---What kind of camera;do you use?Many people;take beautiful pictures;but I am always impressed by the contrast&sharpness of yours.We have a nice EVERYDAY camera;
but it is not computer compatable.Eventually;we will have to get another camera so that I can send in some pictures!Threads like this and it's really bothersome.Right now the money is more important;for my autistic grandsons diet! The only way that I can send pictures now;is if my oldest daughter;takes them;with her camera;and I forward them to someones private e-mail addy! The only thing that I know about photography;is point & shoot! You really have to be selective;on what your daughter;takes pictures of.Thanks! Irish P.S.It might not;just be the camera;it might be your skill as a photographer. |
It's an older Sony Mavica. Does a good job if the lighting is good. Best resolution, though, is only 640x480.
You mentioned an autistic grandson. My brother-in-laws little boy is autistic, so I do understand. Such a shame. Good news is that he's got good parents that care a great deal. Roy Rogers had a Downs Syndrome child he adopted and once said, it's amazing the love you gain from helping a special child. I think he was right. |
dicksbro---As with anything else;I never thought about autism;until;it touched my family. My youngest daughter;got divorced;and her ex;as far as I'm concerned;doesn't help her enough financially!I don't understand it;because;it's his kid too.
I wanted to kick his ass;but my daughter and wife asked me not to.It wouldn't prove anything;except to me.I have been arrested ;for aggravated assault;before and the jail time;would be worth the satisfaction.I have a wierd view on life;but I'm not going to change it now.Everything;in life;has consequesces. Irish P.S.He was an Army Ranger(Airborne);so it would be a good challange. He tought hand to hand combat;but that's not street fighting! |
Irish ... keep cool. Focus on that daughter and that little grandson. They, your wife and you are the one's that benefit. It's the former son-in-laws loss. We'll keep you all in our thoughts!

Lil - Thanx!!! Thats the whole reason I moved to Toledo.. I live in a historical district called the Old West End and I just love all the houses!!!

I've been told that I could be a tourism agent for Washington state. I believe it is one of the most diverse and beautiful places I've been to. Anyway, I happen to live in the desert part of the state and we are a primarily agricultural area. Here is a pic showing some orchards in the fall.

And another orchard last winter.

Lixy, TY. I love to paint but haven't had much time for a long time. Hope to get back to it one day.
Grumble. Nah, nothing covert ... to clumsy for that. Try to sneak into the house and I'll probably trip over shoes ... mine. :( Sassy ... those pictures are terrific. Washington is a beautiful state. Been through it a couple of times, but would love to someday come out and really get to explore it. Just tell Mt. Ranier not to erupt :) PS ... back to frogs |
Pictures of Central Illinois Today

Wife and I went out for ride this morning and took pictures of some of the surrounding country. Always think of Illinois as flat and filled with corn. True, but there are images of beauty and peace as well ...
Maybe I can share a few with you. |

Dicksbro---You talk about;flat land.I have some pictures;saved for
the memories;that were taken;out of car windows(circa 1962)I went to technical school;in Witchita Falls,(sp)Texas. My friends and I would;often;drive to Lawton,Oklahoma;on weekend nights.(After getting drunk;at the Airmans Club)The pictures;were taken; between the base and Lawton.(Going accross the Red River, etc.) You can't see;one rise in the altitude.About the only time that I saw;anything rise there;was in;what we called the Badlands and in my pants. dicksbro those are some nice shots, sure looks like Iowa..
Guess a lot of that area back there looks that way, I sure like it. |
Irish ... :D LOL :D... been through Oklahoma and Texas and know what you mean. There are some pretty flat bare areas in OK and TX.
M45 ... Thanks. I think from Indiana through Iowa you see a lot of country like these pictures show. Tried to find some a little more interesting than corn or bean fields, though. |
dicksbro, beautiful pictures. thanks
|
dicksbro, thank you, your pictures are also very beautiful. I must agree with you about Washington state, it is so diverse that you can see almost anything you want to within a couple hours.

This is a ten minute walk from my house. Sorrento Beach on the West Coast of Australia.......
|
Skipthisone and Nikki, those are really nice pictures. I love mountains and rolling country, but there's something very peaceful and serene about fields of grain stretching out to the horizon. I think the water lapping the shore has a similar effect.
Thanks! You two are good! |

Don't exactly know what made me take this picture, but there was something about the juxtaposition of the concrete blocks, the moisture on the corner of the one; and the leaf that caught my eye. Anyway, thought it was kind of neat so will share it with you.
