Got the same PM and not sure what prompted the person to send it. Either they're just being negative (?) or there's something in particular that's really bothering them. If that's the case, it's too bad they didn't spell it out so it could be discussed.

Oldfart 03-11-2008 03:47 AM

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed out on the PM.

I have argued, sometimes harsher than others, with a few here, but I still count these

people as my friends and hope to see as many as possible at PAGAN08.

There is often heat here of several flavours, but it seems to be the strangers who

get nasty.

Start a thread and get trashed? fuggedaboutit.

Hmmmmm????

This exact post was in my PM box this morning. I thought it was directed at me. I went straight to my PM box before I saw any of the threads this morning. I responded with confused questions.

Lilith 03-11-2008 05:01 AM

Yep! Lots of attention seeking. I see it in 10 year olds all day. I am sorry that this person felt the need to misuse our PM system.

I agrees with PF's post!

And yes, I also got the PM which made me feel all warm and fuzzy - ZOMG someone sent me a PM! - and then I read it and was just all confused, and slightly unsatisfied.

But it's ok, cos I saw this thread and it's got HEAPS of posts by Neige in it. So I got to see her avatar like heaps and heaps, and now I'm satisfied. :D
Thanks Neige! Hottie!

i would like to add my 2 cents worth if i may, i have been lurking here for quite some time and the reason i lurk is because i feel that even when i join in a conversation i am left out of it and my posts go unanswered.
now to be fair this could just be me not adding anything useful to the conversation or maybe just my perception but wrong or right this is how i feel.
I would also like add that if we all shared the same opinions and beliefs then we would just be talking to ourself, thank god we are all different i couldnt stand talking to another me

wyndhy 03-11-2008 09:39 AM

i got one. made me chuckle. especially after reading an article titled jerks of the web on msn that hubby sent me today. anonymous whining. scary stuff.

we're not taunting. it's no joke or mock invitation. no bait and switch just to get someone to contribute so we can knock them down. we genuinely want people to post and say hi and let us get to know them as they get to know us. if you are afraid of someone disagreeing with you, i have no advice - life is full of adversity. if you are afraid of someone being nasty - again, i have no advice, the world is full of jerks. if i went through life worrying about whether or not people agreed with me or whether they may get nasty if they didn't like my opinion, i might decide to disguise myself and send whiney warnings to people too. but i do wish you could have felt secure enough to come out and give us an honest shot at getting to know you and understanding your reluctance to post instead of deciding to PM people with generalized complaints. you're words "stop taunting us" indicate that you've been appointed by others to speak on their behalf, but some how i doubt it. you also failed to notice that for every one person who chose to bail at the first sign of adversity or heated disagreement, there are at least 20 who didn't. i cannot hold myself responsible for the thin skin of other people. i will not hold back an opinion because i am worried someone will disagree or get their feelings hurt. i will not apologize for my opinions. i also try to never make it personal. this applies on-line and off.

like moose said, good thing we're all different, otherwise life would be boring indeed.

perhaps you should take your own advice, wxyz and begin acting like an adult. take responsibility for your own opinions and actions and don't be afraid to share them.

scotzoidman 03-11-2008 12:11 PM

Also got the mystery PM. I suppose I should feel flattered in some way. I would agree, that this is still the nicest people forum I've seen anywhere. Sure, we don't hesitate to take someone to task if we have a strong difference of opinion, & we've had a few tantrums when someone thinks they're not getting their way, but even a cursory browse thru any other forum on the net proves to me that Pixies is king when it comes to adult, open-minded, no-flame-allowed, discussion of whatever is on your mind.

...usually it's sex, right?

You know me so well!

And I know how you feel, moose - I've beeen a "Thread Killer" too many times to count! I always post something in a thread and then just watch the thread slip off the radar again.... the Casper Kiss Of Death I call it.

On the internet, best not to take things personally. :)

Oldfart 03-11-2008 04:22 PM

Was this a demand that we just fall into step with wxyz1234 and his friends?

This is a community, and the same dynamics exist here as in the outside world. Clubs, towns or states take on a texture that you either go along with, work quietly to guide into a more acceptable (to you) flavour, or you emigrate to a different forum.

I am unsure who is holding a gun at your heads to make you stay somewhere you aren't comfortable.

Mods, did wxyz1234 happen to share an IP with any known dissidents?

smithy020 03-11-2008 04:29 PM

I got that PM too, just deleted it.....

I think anyone who's posted a lot here (i.e. more than say a dozen times!!) has "killed" a thread - I know I have! But if you look at threads that have "died", I think you'll find in a goodly proportion of them the last post was by one of our more prolific posters. To me, that just goes with the territory, and we shouldn't take it personally.

Re the PM - I rpelied to it too, so it'll be interesting to see if a reply to my reply is forthcoming.

(I think I just confused myself!!!)

Love you guys and love the lurkers too.

jseal 03-11-2008 06:35 PM

wxyz_1234,

While I may be more sympathetic to your criticism than some, I am unsure that your post was the best way to effect change. As Oldfart pointed out, Pixies is a community. As I read through the posts following yours, I see the community members closing ranks in the face of a threat, and your post is a threat.

You have told Pixies Place posters that we are doing it wrong. I must disagree with you. I can not and have not visited enough other sites “like” Pixies to be able to claim some sort of global knowledge, but I have visited more sedate sites, and more rowdy sites – one in particular. Some of the posts at that site were nastier that those you will see used by members at members here. That is why I no longer go there.

I also question your decision to send the PMs. They seem to have been clones of your post. What was the idea behind that?

The reason that the people who post here continue to post here is that they get what they want here. If you have been a member long enough to remember the heyday of cowgirltease, you too must get some sustenance here, even if posts in some of the threads are be more intense than you prefer. Just a suggestion, but if/when you see some thread getting too harsh, leave it alone. Do not open it.

Pixies should be a place you want to visit, not an ordeal.

I concur... it's happened to me as well. More than once.

Definitely a member. Plain and simple, no pseudo.

When I got the PM, I assumed it was directed at me since I had started this thread. When I came here and saw that tons of others had gotten it too, I was shocked... But I can't help but agree with jseal when he says...

Mae 03-11-2008 09:26 PM

Thank you IowaMan and Neige. I'll be floating around a bit and getting reacquainted. Nice to be back. :)

Neige 03-11-2008 09:28 PM

Nice to have you back too. ;)

GreenChef 03-11-2008 10:13 PM

Hmm got it too
and I'm relatively new
(might have lurked for a while first myself)
but that was before I got to know people here and how friendly they all are
I have no clue what this person is talking about
but like most everyone is saying...
if you ain't happy leave...
or at least SPEAK
Communication is what separates us from the lower
(sometimes better mannered) species

I think we've all been there. At first it's intimidating and you wonder what you're doing wrong. After a while I realized that sometimes I've come into a thread later and many of the thoughts (possible comments) I'd post has already been made. Other times I just take in all the post and am glad each interesting one was made that gives me some thought 'munchies'.

I don't expect every post to be either profound or titillating and often just enjoy the kibitzing and joking around. None of these non-responding factors detour my wanting to read my fellow Pixie's words, regardless what they are.

Bottom line,............... Just enjoy and post whenever you have a thought that you want to share with your friends. :)

Mae 03-11-2008 10:41 PM

Soda...no, you ARE funny. Good sense of humor. I've been gone a few months from the board. Guess I need to read a bit more. :)

PantyFanatic thank you for these words it helps a lot

Oldfart 03-12-2008 07:55 AM

PF is right.

The moment you stop and think that you'd better not say something just in case someone won't like it, you've lost.

We have enough here with opposing views who are still happy to share thoughts without venom to fill a forum.

Be yourself and you'll either fit in or decide yourself to go somewhere you're happier. Either way you win.

Keep us (me) advised as to whether you get a response. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to respond to it, to set the MF straight on how many ways he got it wrong...but I suspect this was a classic "hit & run" case, & we won't be hearing from this one again at anytime...

Prodigal sons & daughters are always welcomed back into the fold. Having taken a lengthy sabbatical once myself due to circumcisions, oops, circumstances, beyond my control, I can testify the welcome back ceremony is a wonderful thing to experience :loveshowe

Well I thought I was special.

Hi, It was me. I'm the mean son of a bitch that got a personal message about how much of a jerk I am.

Or I thought it was personal. Anyways, I thought I did something special that someone had necroed from three years ago and wanted to post a LOL.

And well I would post that cute image of the frog saying "get out", but that is too much :effort:.

No seriously, this is a friendly forum. We don't have a whole subsection of emotes and image macros that all say "get out".

Can I post goatse here?

citrus 03-24-2008 08:38 AM

:corn:
I lurked for about a half hour, Then I joined and have been constantly inconsistent since then. --as a poster

ps. yes, I received that mass mailing PM also. I think it was out of line coming from a one time poster. I responded with my own ?What? type of question

seminalfluid 03-24-2008 08:55 PM

Just obtained the 100 post mark tonight!

Yeah to me; the pseudo-lurker!
