Wellllll...I know there will be some adjustment period. But think of it this way, SDLS: you knew where you were going to live (we're still looking for a rental) and you didn't have to have immediate childcare. :D

Think of it this way, you two -- STFU cuz you're both having sex with men you love.

<sob> Oral B can't talk!

IAKaraokeGirl 07-11-2005 03:12 PM

OMG, ROFLMAO @ Steph! :)

Steph 07-11-2005 03:14 PM

LOL Maybe I'll experiment with one of those "Speak and Spells" with my toothbrush and pretend I'm with Stephen Hawking. :)

sodaklostsoul 07-11-2005 03:14 PM

OK Miss Steph.......and you would want a man that talks!! :D

Steph 07-11-2005 03:17 PM

ROFL You're right, sdls! After the bullshit spewed from the last guy, maybe a silent partner would be preferable!

And that rules out PF, doesn't it?

sodaklostsoul 07-11-2005 03:19 PM

LMAO...ya it does!!!

IAKaraokeGirl 07-11-2005 03:26 PM

<---thinks Steph is looking for the trebuchet for PF right about now. ;)

Is it wrong that I don't even know kiddo and I can't wait for school to start either (but I love her without knowing her, too!!!)?

sodaklostsoul 07-11-2005 05:17 PM

Awww that's sweet Steph!!! Course I know the reason why you want school to start!!!! :D

Why, it's to have enough math/engineering background to build a big enough trebuchet to hurl IAKG and all her stuff from Iowa to Massachusetts.

IAKaraokeGirl 07-11-2005 07:51 PM

What Roman numeral would follow the calculus course name that would take care of that, gekkogecko? :)

OMG LMAO!!!

Congrats on your fresh start IAKG!

IAKaraokeGirl 07-15-2005 01:32 PM

Thanks, babybunny and RandyGal. :)

Lizz, the date isn't set in stone yet. I have a pretty good idea when I need to be there, but it's all in how the rest of my preparations go timewise. :)

Scarecrow 07-16-2005 01:56 PM

Dear KG,

The cornfeilds out east are not near as nice the ones in Iowa. LOL

I hope your move goes well and everything works out well for you.

IAKaraokeGirl 07-18-2005 06:41 AM

Scarecrow, do they *have* many cornfields out east? LOL. Thanks for the well wishes--so far, we're right on track!

IAKaraokeGirl 07-20-2005 06:46 AM

Just an update--I've got a move-in date on the apartment, which is right across the street from my children's new elementary school (complete with before/after-school program). The moving truck is set up as well, and I'm currently planning out my driving route to the northeast.

Big issues still to resolve are care for my children when school is not in session and moving help when I arrive in New England to help unload the truck. That is, of course, unless some NE big, strong Pixies men want to head on over. ;)

Lilith 07-20-2005 07:40 AM

Sounds like you've got all your ducks in a row!

IAKaraokeGirl 07-20-2005 08:10 AM

Ducks, yes. Unloading help, no.

dicksbro 07-20-2005 08:59 AM

YOU'VE GOT DUCKS???? :yikes:

IAKaraokeGirl 07-20-2005 09:05 AM

They hang out with the find-my-way-back-home hamster.

bare4you 07-20-2005 02:55 PM

If the move was to Seattle I would be more than happy to help out. Congrats on the new job and the reconnection with your sweetie!

IAKaraokeGirl 07-20-2005 03:37 PM

Thanks, bare4you.

I wanted to let you know that you and this post crossed my mind yesterday as I passed more than one fresh fruit/veggie stand on the roadside that advertised "local corn" or "native corn"! I've yet to see the fields, but I am compelled to believe they have them somewhere

IAKaraokeGirl 07-24-2005 09:34 PM

LOL @ Maddy! They're starting to harvest all of that Iowa sweet corn, more so in the next week or two, and the stands here are really pushing it big--huge article on sweet corn in today's Sunday paper as well. Good to know I won't *totally* miss the corn thing, although I've lived in Iowa almost seven years and never once made it to the Sweet Corn Festival. :rolleyes2

IAKaraokeGirl 08-04-2005 06:46 PM

*bump*

Quick update, everyone. I have some moving help coming in the morning to help me start moving the myriad of boxes out of my living room and onto the semi-truck trailer in front of my house. I'm hoping to load EVERYTHING tomorrow, but we shall see.

Saturday, I head southeast to visit my family and drop off the kiddos at my parents for a few weeks, then begin my long journey northward. After a few stops along the way, and barring anything unforeseen, I should arrive in New Hampshire late afternoon Tuesday. I'm running the whole gamut of emotions, from being excited about this new part of my life to anticipatory, anxious to be there *already* to stressed about getting everything done to feeling sadness about the friends and memories I'm leaving behind.

I will be out of Pixie-range off and on from late tomorrow afternoon until Wednesday afternoon. Whenever I'm near a wi-fi connection, I'll be firing up the laptop to check and respond to messages.

Keep an eye on everything for me, will ya? :)

bare4you 08-04-2005 08:00 PM

We will be thinking of you! Drive safe and don't take chances thinking you can make it farther in one day than you safely can.......We miss you already, hurry back! :lurv:

Lilith 08-04-2005 08:00 PM

Be safe, and be fearless ;)

Steph 08-04-2005 08:06 PM

What ^^^ said :D

You'll be fine! Lots of coffee & cigs . . . oh wait, that's how I drive across the country. Well, bring lots of music!

Scarecrow 08-04-2005 08:15 PM

If you happen to pass between exit 235 and 184 on I-57 I'll be waving from the corn feilds :thumb:

Have a safe trip and don't let the children :drive: you crazy ;)

IAKaraokeGirl 08-04-2005 09:24 PM

Thanks, all of you. I was thinking today that, even though I am leaving a good number of friends behind here in Iowa and the surrounding area, I get to take all of my friends here *with* me. How great is that? :)

I plan on taking things slow, enjoying the trip, and arriving safely. Fearless? I hope.

wyndhy 08-05-2005 09:37 AM

safe journey!

OzKristin 08-05-2005 10:47 AM

the northeast is quite a nice area...and I know from living here my whole life lol. I'm so happy for you and your newly found success!
