You can bet your sweet behind that I will. :D Just give me a couple of months to get settled and you won't be able to keep me away. :x:

As long as we can have a naked housewarming party, we can do it before my clothes arrive. Otherwise, it might have to be June. :(

Already feels like home with so many wonderful Pixies to welcome me in it. :D

hotfire 04-11-2005 10:42 AM

losing a buckeye. Heres one for the road :hump:

maddy 04-11-2005 06:49 PM

wooohoooo on the house! I'm sure it must be a relief to have one huge item accomplished on the "to do" list.

osuche 04-11-2005 10:11 PM

Yep it is. The basement and dining room are *almost* packed up, too...thanks to buckling down and doing some packing today.

BTW -- thanks to maddy's suggestion -- I found a moving company I am happy with. Signed the contract on that today, too. :)

maddy 04-11-2005 10:17 PM

I'm glad I could help, no sense in letting my experience and knowledge go unshared :)

campingboy 04-11-2005 10:27 PM

On the Road Again.... I think that my house is on the way - the polar route -. I'm sorry but you will not be able to do any snow angels on this visit. Yes there is a month or two when we do not have any snow. But I will BBQ a great dinner of Artic Char and we can sip some good wine.

cowgirltease 04-11-2005 10:41 PM

Do you live on one of those really crooked streets? I thought they were so cool. :)
BTW Check out Benihana's. It's AWESOME! :)

Benihana...not you're making me hungry. :slurp:

Actually, we're going to live in the FLAT part of Berkeley <sigh> But then again the contact high from living in berkeley might compensate.

As for the crooked (and steep!) streets........I am sooooooo glad they don't get snow, or we'd all be screwed. :D

cowgirltease 04-11-2005 11:33 PM

LMAO yeah they would. BTW the flowers down that street are gorgeous in the summer!

osuche 04-13-2005 08:35 AM

Update:

OK.....So we got cold feet on the house we were in contract on. It had some significant inspection issues, like 18" of water in the crawlspace (which flooded and BROKE the furnace), among other things. Also I've realized that 2 closets in an entire house are NOT enough for my family. :D

So....we're off and looking again. Mr. Osuche is seeing a place on Friday, and then next Friday 4/22 we're planning a bigger house hunting trip.

sodaklostsoul 04-13-2005 08:51 AM

Awww sorry to hear that osuche.........Good Luck on finding one that works for you!!!!

wyndhy 04-13-2005 09:44 AM

good luck!

Aqua 04-13-2005 10:53 AM

It sucks now osuche, but I am sure you have realized that you're making a BIG purchase and you're going to be there awhile so it makes sense to get a house that makes you happy. We looked at a bunch of houses and none of them were cutting it for what we needed in a house. Finally, we came across a house that was damn near perfect. Right price range, right number of bedrooms, taken care of (some of the houses we looked at were just so run down), good neighborhood, nice neighbors... I just wish it had one more room so I could have a pool table. :p

Good luck!! ((((osuche)))))

Coaster 04-13-2005 07:21 PM

Well better to back out now than sink more $$$$ into it later....

Good luck ((((((((Osuche))))))))

osuche 04-14-2005 02:57 PM

We've finalized the moving contact and signed it today. Our stuff goes into storage until we find a home :(

Anyone ever had to put their stuff in storage? Any words of wisdom????

Lilith 04-14-2005 03:03 PM

Nothing parishable..not even herbs and spices :( Throw out anything that could possible be squeezed or leak.

wyndhy 04-14-2005 04:00 PM

some of those de-humidifying bags of rocks or whatever the hell they are would be a good idea. they're those things that don't need electicity or emtying. get storage bags for your mattresses, pillows, etc. maybe one of those vacuum hose thingys, ya know, the ones they sell in the as seen on tv stores for your bulky stuff. and spray the interior perimiter with bug/spider killer, too.

maddy 04-14-2005 08:25 PM

I'd shoot for climate controlled storage... I think it would help a lot of the ummmm climate problems :) I'm hoping to learn from you on this one as I'm afraid I will be storing my things for a bit too.

wyndhy 04-14-2005 08:38 PM

i just remembered those adverts for pods i've seen. they come to your place and leave the giant cargo box, you pack at your leisure, then they come pick it up and deliver it or store it. not sure if they are climate controlable though.

osuche 04-21-2005 01:34 AM

I made it to San Francisco -- about an hour ago. Just thought I'd check in and let everyone know I arrived safely.

/me yawns

Heading to bed now....

rockintime 04-21-2005 02:40 AM

Cooooooooolllllllllll!!!!!!! :D

Wellllll-cummm....ooops....I mean welcome.

dicksbro 04-21-2005 02:53 AM

Sleep tight, osuche ... glad you made it there safely.

Lilith 04-21-2005 05:21 AM

Get some rest :x:

maddy 04-21-2005 06:48 AM

wyndhy 04-21-2005 07:40 AM

Aqua 04-21-2005 09:42 AM

Welcome to the West Coast! Get some good rest, you earned it. :x:

Coaster 04-21-2005 10:25 AM

Glad you are safe & sound...... now recharge your batteries! :x:

osuche 04-22-2005 03:39 PM

Well....I have limited computer access, so you all might see me on a bit less for the next couple of weeks. But I just ewanted to stop by and let everyone know that we're working on finding a house (doing ANOTHER bid today) and that I start work at my new job on Monday. :D

I'll catch up on my Pixies fix soon. ;)

Scarecrow 04-22-2005 04:49 PM

good luck on your house hunting and hope the new job is all you want it to be.
