I hope things went well with the insurance company today. I wouldn't contact an attorney YET. While they consult for free, once they take your case on they usually do so for no less than 1/3 of whatever you get from the insurance company. And I'm assuming you have medical insurance. Whatever settlement the attorney would manage to get would also require a payback to your medical insurance. Been there, done that, would never do it that way again.
Contrary to what most people will tell you, the insurance company will be fair to you (er, MOST insurance companies that is) you just need to be patient with them. And deal with just the facts with them. It's when your emotions run high that you tend to get disappointed (you in the general sense, not YOU specifically).
