P.S. Before I discovered that the doc's had a cure in the form of a shot for poison ivy I used to scrub mine (I get it all the time...and bad!) and put pure bleach on it.

YES...it burned like hell...and scarred (I didn't care)...but it dried it quicker than anything else I'd ever tried. And I had thought I'd tried it all till I read wyndhy's cure of gasoline. I'm sure it would work but PU! I hate the smell of gasoline!

When I started getting the shot for it...I got no more scarring as doc also prescribed a steroid that prevents the scars from ever forming. It may not be necessary...and the ointment is really expensive even with insurance...but the last time I had poison ivy I had a gash on my arm from scratching that would have been uglier than sin!
