Okay, I saw beaches, landmarks, amusement parks, and Texas... San Antonio! The only thing it lacks is a beach... but Galveston Bay isn't that far away. There's a huge waterpark/amusement park just north of San Antonio (New Braunfels, I believe is the name of the town). Of course San Antonio offers the Alamo and River Walk as well as a World's Fair tower that is SUPER cool. I spent a day in San Antonio as a day trip from Houston and had a great time... I've always wanted to go back and now that I'm a mere 5 hours away can't ever find the time to go.

Actually, Maddy it appears SA is our #1 choice. Kiddo #1 was born there and it's his passion to return. They have Fiesta Texas 6 flags and Sea World. That takes care of kiddo #2's ideas, and Mr. Lil and I would love to sip Margaritas on the RiverWalk like we did when we lived there in our kid-less days. I am scouting hotels there currently.


I really want to do D.C. but think kiddo #2 would do better if he were a year or 2 older.

Also the Space Needle is quite the landmark (and has safety wires so Mr Lil can feel at ease) and there is the Experience Music Project interactive rock and roll museum, seaplane rides, beaches (ok, the water would be cold but it's still a beach), plenty of Margaritas annnnd... I could personally show the little guy how to make better noise than he does right now. ;)

I forgot about Six Flags and SeaWorld... I'm not sure how since two of my co-workers and their families are there for Spring Break this week. It is a fun city with plenty to do and see for child and adult alike.

Only problem is that it will be 125 degrees in the shade there in June :hot:

The water park might look darn attractive ;) I know that jumping into the river usually doesn't look like a good idea.

As a child we traveled all summer long - the son of two University Geography majors.

One of my favorite memories was when my mom took me out of school early and we went to Holland. The rest of my family joined us about 1 1/2 months later. That created a special bond between my mom and myself. That was the first real time mom depended on me - while geography was her major, reading maps is still not her stong point.

My dad would spend the winter planning each trip. We would stop every two hours and get out to burn off some steam. Dad found points of interest, land marks, and other things that he thought we should see along the way.

Traveling North America has so many hidden treasures, and is a great way of building family memories.

Are you going to be camping, or staying in hotels?

LOL hotels....camping is not my forte. Plus we may fly to some destinations.

If your going to San Antonio stop in Houston and see the space museam ,then the Butterfly Museam(the butterflys are alive and fly around inside a large building worth seeing) then just north of Houston is Springtown a restored 1930s shopping district all kinds of crafts and whatever be sure to eat in the old Train station

If we doTexas, we'll go to Austin too...I have family there!

I spent a week in a place called Mount Tremblant, which is just north of Montreal...it is lovely. Mountains, lakes, shopping, quiet time, lots of water sports in the summer....and snow skiing in the winter of you're into such things.

I love Maine. We spent a week on Bailey Island a couple of years ago, and I had a wonderful time. Good contemplation place...but I am sure you could teach the kids how to go clamming, and maybe do a bit of deep sea fishing to keep them busy.

Bahamas might be fun and inexpensive from where you are.....I enjoyed the shopping and beaches there. It doesn't feel very foreign at all...not a very intimidating vacation.

Of course...If CA is still ont he list, feel free to come and stay with me in San Francisco. We'll be settled by the end of April....and we're renting a three bedroom place, so we could make it work. :D I'd take you to Ghirardelli Square (where the ice cream is fantastic), Fisherman's Wharf, and (of course) a day trip to Yosemite National Park. You'd have to see the redwoods (and the bears). :D Seriously....you're always welcome. :) And I'd love to have you.
