I'll pass it along to him, Irish. Thank you for remembering him. |
I hesitate to post after one of my own posts but I think this is important enough to do it.
I know some of our Pixie ladies sew, and some of the wives of our Pixie's gentlemen do too. I have recently been made aware of a group who are making quilts to be given to families of the men and women who have given their lives in Iraq. It started for just families of Marines but now they include every branch of the military. They will accept quilt blocks, squares of fabric with a comforting message and signature. And if you wish to help in another way, they also accept monetary donations to help them purchase supplies, and send sets of blocks, batting and backing to volunteers to assemble them. Also if you are or know in immediate family member of a war zone casualty they will take the information so they can get a quilt to the family. I'm NOT affiliated with this group but I thought at least a few Pixies might be interested. Here is the link: http://www.marinecomfortquilts.us/index.html With my husband being a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, I personally will be sewing at least a few quilt blocks to donate. |

A) THANK YOU rockintime for serving our country!! *hugs* B) Suggestion: I think it would be terrific to have a list of Pixie service men & women, what branch of the service they were in and when & where they served. Can this be done? C) SS, I'm going to pass that quilt link onto the the Girl Scout troops in my area. What a terrific idea, TY for posting it. |
