Deja Vu!

:( :( :( :( :( :( :(

So Sad.

dicksbro 02-01-2003 06:52 PM

I guess it's always a shock when we look at something inherently risky and dangerous and begin to think of it as ordinary and routine. So tragic for the families of those lost; and it must be a very heavy burden for those who supported the mission.

My hope is that a merciful God has seen each of those on board safely home to His kingdom; and that He'll comfort those of us who grieve for their loss.

Amen, dicksbro

I have no idea what to add .... this is such a sad day ... my thoughts and my prayers are with the families and friends of the astronauts , and everyone associated with the mission :(

Such is the human condition. Our Odyssey, our journey - destination unknown. I celebrate and salute those lost.

Seven brave people lost.

BTW, six Russian aircrew died in a plane crash in East Timor

last Friday.

Anyone hear about it?

dicksbro 02-02-2003 05:50 AM

Oldfart, I hadn't heard about the loss of the six Russians but I pray for them as well. It's sad when anyone is lost because of accidents of any kind ... and truly tragic that there are those in this world that intentionally go out to take lives. Thanks for sharing that.

Oldfart 02-02-2003 06:22 AM

Dicksbro,

Not in conflict, just a stupid accident.

LixyChick 02-02-2003 01:12 PM

So sorry OF! No, I hadn't heard. Sad news abounds!

It is truly sad but it dose make you wonder why they have continued to use this outdated technology I mean the computer I am typing this on is mor advanced than the ones on the shuttel. they have spent millions of dollars diveloping a new space craft that has been ready for use and the continue with this pinto of a spaceship why?

Takira 02-02-2003 09:45 PM

my prayers and simpathy go out to the families of the brave souls who perish in this tragedy. may God be with them all

turbo_mmx 02-02-2003 10:44 PM

Yes, but in reality is it more reliable? I would not trust my current PC hardware with my life for all the tea in China! Design for such a harsh environment is a very difficult challenge.

It just doesn't seem appropriate to try to say anything clever or witty... or even profound.
Houston has always been really close to the space community, so the loss is especially traumatic for us here.

SteinFibers 02-04-2003 03:09 PM

I have to agree there is just too many sad incidents happening these days, There was a Blackhawk down last Thursday where 4 solders lost their life, there was the bombing incident in which the Canadian solders lost their lives, there was 9-11 it seems that this decade will be remembered as the decade of sadness..Although every decade has its moments it seems that the negative has greatly outweighed the positive so far... The only thing that could make up for it at this point is like if they find the cure for Cancer and diabetes....Other than that....Its just too sad what is going on...

SteinFibers...
