Especially if she did them for both the celebration AND if she kept losing bets.

Neige 05-12-2010 09:24 PM

Another reason for Neige to do those celebration pictures! :)

Not to mention the fact all the drooling, horny Pixie men are lined up in a row waiting with tongues wagging and ... well, all that other stuff, and regardless of the fact that I would have said this even if the Penguins had won.

Listen to DB, he knows what he's talking about.

Question for all you Americans...

Before the games against the Flyers, they've been singing God Bless America instead of The Star-Spangled Banner. Why is this?

Oldfart 05-18-2010 06:39 PM

Damn good question.

Lord Snow 05-18-2010 08:00 PM

Well, technically that God Bless America was the national anthem. I forget what they changed it to the Star Spangled Banner. I think it was 100 years after Francis Scott Key wrote it, but don't quote me.

Neige 05-19-2010 09:35 AM

So do you have two national anthems?

PantyFanatic 05-19-2010 10:20 AM

No!

gekkogecko 05-19-2010 10:22 AM

No, just one. In the past, others songs have served unofficially as the national anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner becomming so in 1931 (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star_Spangled_Banner). No mention of "God Bless America"

gekkogecko 05-19-2010 10:25 AM

Ah, but the Wikipedia page about "God Bless America" gives this info:

Later, from December 11, 1969, through the early 1970s, the playing of Smith singing the song before many of home games of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers brought it renewed popularity (as well as a reputation for being a "good luck charm" to the Flyers), long before it became a staple of nationwide sporting events. The Flyers even brought Smith in to perform live before the final game of Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 19, 1974, and the Flyers won the Cup that day.

Neige 05-19-2010 12:33 PM

Hmmm so that's why the Flyers have been winning!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info gg!

PantyFanatic 05-19-2010 04:52 PM

Thanks GG. I didn't have time to dig up and post the references eaarlier.
