Be confident but not cocky.
Know about who you will be working for.
Have questions for them
Know your greatest strength and wekness and how to remediate the weakness.

Dress for sucess no tacky nail polish or gaudy jewelry.

From what I understand wear blue. I've been told that blue is less threatening than any other color. Make sure you're very courteous and respectful. Other than that I can't think of anything. Keeping these things in mind I've never failed at an interview. It was getting the interview that was my problem.

Thanks Lilth. I am going to dig my interview suit out from the back of the wardrobe tomorrow :)

soph,

Do not arrive late for the interview, that really looks bad.
Google, then research the company so that you know something about the business.
Be prepared to explain why you are a good fit for the position.

Good luck!

soph- I conduct a lot of interviews through my work. In fact I'm going in tomorrow to interview peeps.

After answering their initial questions I've found that rather than asking "what do you want me to do?" that asking "precisely what do you want done?" lets them know you'll take charge to accomplish the goal instead of just performing a duty. If things progress to an over view, go straight to "where are your bottlenecks or problems?". "What are the timelines and what do WE have to work with?" is the next direction I head (or like to hear when I'm doing the interviews) to let them know you're ready to hit the ground running.

:rolleyes2 Maybe we should know what type position you are interviewing for before all this.

Good luck in any case.

Be sure and turn your cell phone OFF and don't pass gas!

Put the cocktail glass down before you go into the interview, or alternatively, take in sufficient glasses and and a jug.

Its a interview for a unit administrator

Lord Snow 06-16-2010 05:08 AM

Then don't forget to mention that you come supplied with your own whip and know how to use it. LOL.

soph 06-16-2010 05:53 PM

Ha ha ha. I like that

Be confident without being arrogant, show you know much but not all, show them that a team leader must also be a team player. Curing cancer and the common cold add Brownie points.
