Hey All,
I am going to toss my hat in the ring and attempt to write some erotic fiction. My problem is that when I write I am very detailed and have background and such like that. But when it comes to erotica, is this a good thing. I mean I see pros and cons of both sides of "plot or not", but what do you all think. Thanks in advance for you answers.

I'm not an expert myself, but my feeling is that there should be enough detail to create ambiance, but not so much that we know every detail of the character's life.
Set the scene, introduce the characters, then run the action. I look forward to reading what you write. :corn:

Thanks Sunshine. My biggest problem is that I can be a bit long winded but I think I can find a balance of story and sex.

Need some detail to get 'a feel' for the story line.... who, when, where.... but not every split hair detail. Find a balance of enough but not too much.
I have a feeling your stories will be great. ;) Look forward to reading them. :D

I think it depends on the kind of story you are writing. A novel should be full of details while a short story should be limited.
I write short stories and find I should limit the details to what is needed to make it understandable until I get to the erotic/sex parts. Then I try to write in a lot of details. I must also watch hat I don't over do it to bore the readers.
Hope this helps you.

Any story that takes 2 paragraphs to describe a persons, hair, eyes, smile and clothing, is to much detail
