So in my state they had some money proposed in the budget as usual to spend on technology in schools. It has somehow been attached to a bill that would require any and all technology funding for schools to be contributed by the revenue from slot machines. Here's the thing, voters have already said NO to the damn machines once. So now the proposed budget is $0 funding for technology in schools unless it comes from slots. Way to blackmail! I hate our fucking corrupt government.

Michigan plays a game along those line. When ever they want something to pass they say the money is going to the schools and yes they do use all that money for the school but at the same time the cut the school budgets about the same amount of money from other taxes.

Illinois did that. The proposed riverboat gambling to "supplement" the state funds provided to the schools. They got the gambling, gave that money to the schools, and promptly reduced other state funding.
I don't even think party or state matters ... none of the bums are any good.

Lilith,
Sorry to learn that the funding of your technology in schools budget has been made conditional on a discredited revenue source. It must be very frustrating. Hopefully that will change for the better soon.

Lil,
Our politicians are experts at bunching popular and unpopular things into one legal package.
They talk up the good bits and hope most won't see the crap buried in the legislation.

dicksbro,
Oh Tush! I can only presume you are having a bit of fun at my expense, but OK, I’ll play it straight. :)
Let us begin with the root sentence. “I hate our fucking corrupt government.”
The adjective “corrupt” is a part of speech that modifies the noun “government” by limiting it to a subset of all governments. Thus, there are fewer corrupt governments than there are all governments.
This is why my response to “Are there any others?” is “Of course”.
Now, if the question is to be recontextualized as “Show me a government without corruption”, then we would need to begin a rather extended journey by examining all governments. This is easier said than done. What then is a government? Are we to limit the set to only include those which rule sovereign nations? This would exclude al-Qaeda for example. Now what if those who run al-Qaeda are uncorrupt? Surely then we could with pride point to that group of individuals and say “There! We have found a government which is not corrupt! Let us celebrate.”
Looking again at the root sentence, Lilith is reacting quite morally and correctly when she expresses her anger and outrage at the coupling of two completely independent agenda, “funding student technologies” and “legalizing slot machines”; effectively defunding a program of clear value if an already rejected revenue source is not approved.
Let us, for the sake of argument, accept that this event established the state government of Florida as corrupt. Note that she hates her “corrupt government” – not her government, not government in general, not that she hates the fact that there will always be more demand for money than there will be money to fund the demand. She does, rightly, object to a corrupt government, and this implies that there is a government that is not corrupt.
No, on balance, I believe that most governments are not corrupt. I also believe that most people believe that to be true. There are very few perfect governments, and my guess is that the root cause of that is because there are very few perfect humans.
