I've had slight astigmatism my whole life...but not so severe that I couldn't wear contact lenses even before they made lenses for astigmatism. Today, there are lenses made for this affliction. It's not all as bad as it sounds. Actually, it's quite common.

I had astigmatism since I first got glasses at age 8. When I turned 24 I went in for lasic surgery so I would no longer wear glasses. It took care of astigmatism and my eye site problem. I am glad I had it done. Now when I go kayaking I don't worry about flipping over and losing my glasses or going swimming and not knowing what I have swam into. LOL
I was told that when I reach my late 40's I will more than likely need reading glasses.
