I love the Monkees. I used to have their greatest hits until a friend of mine let someone borrow it and they never were heard from again.

Monkees were a cynical effort to gouge kids money for
records and "name merchandise".
Still they gave us some top nostalgia songs.
It's a generation thing.

Of course it was, OF. They were a studio-created band. But the music was fun just the same...
I think they developed into more than what the studio ever expected.. |

Side note: Stephen Stills auditioned for the Monkees, turned down for bad teeth, but when asked if he knew any others who might interested suggested his friend Peter Tork...
