Unhappy Memory Loss HELP!

Hey guys and gals.
I'm a 20 year old male, and about a year ago, I began having many problems remembering things. My whole life I have never been able to remember names, but that's normal. I now can not even remember faces. I began forgetting things like where I was going, and what not. Slowly, it's gotten progressively worse.
Nowadays I can't even remember why I am holding items at the grocery store, or where I am going sometimes. I forget I ever even had entire conversations, and there are often hours of the day that I cannot account for. My thought processes are slower, I have a huge lack of concentration.

My only thought was about that same time, I was put on the medication Provigil, which is designed to keep me awake more. I used to sleep way too much (16 hours/day). Now I get about 3-6 hours of sleep per day.

My question is do any of you have this problem? Is it normal? Has anyone taken this medication? ANY IDEAS AT ALL?!?!?!?

Thanks guys!
Stevo

SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!

Chemicals interfere with memory "setting", from alcohol through caffeine and speed to legit meds.

Yep, there are some drugs (especially ones that deal with balancing brain chemicals and such) that can be a real pain to the short-term memory ... talk to you doctor, they probably need to adjust the dosage or try less and in combination with another drug ...

The other time I had really bad problems with my memory was about 4-8 months after a surgery I had with full anesthesia ... thought I was going crazy and didn't dare say anything about it for awhile, only to discover later that it is a very common thing after surgery (that and hair loss)
