Who are the gamers here?

This comes from a different thread:

http://www.pixies-place.com:81/foru...ead.php?t=30075

So, in answer to Jude30's question:

Yeah, I play a whole slew of different types of games. Tactical/strategic board games, card games (sold most of my collection of early M: TG cards to buy a harp, though), "fun" games, role-playing games, general strategy games. I think my games collection runs into the hundreds, don't know for sure, never actually counted.

We have a bi-weekly gaming session at my house. Mah Jongg, one of the Settlers of Cataan variants, Apples to Apples, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, are usual favorites. I've become fond of the game "Wildlife", by Uberplay since I got it for christmas. Any of the cheapass games is also likely to be played. Keep trying to interest some of the others in a role-playing game, but that seldom happens.

What/where/when do other people on Pixies play?

nothing on-line. i used to play sim city a lot but my dinoputer couldn't handle the memory required anymore so i had to un-install. and back when we lived in buffalo, we were in the test market for the sega channel...or was it play station? nah, sega i think...anyway, that was lots of fun! we'd play for days. and we have a few of the older game systems that my kids enjoy but i don't play much at all anymore...the last ones i played a lot...and was wayyy into...were the tomb raiders. i also loved bomberman and smash tv.

I love CIVII, Steel Panthers (although SP World at War plays good for a bit, then drops into a 256 or less color mode which is really distracting. ) I used to love Rail Tycoon both I and II (but they don't work any more) and while I have the newer Sid Meier's one, I don't enjoy it as much. Seems like a lot of the games have tried to jazz up their graphics and in the process, ruined their user interface or playability. That's sad. Transport tycoon was marvelous and I really enjoyed it, but the new version (Locomotion) doesn't seem to have the same easy interface and I doubt it'll ever be a favorite.

I guess I'm getting old.

Cool

I still do Civilization: Call To Power and Starcraft every now and then, for strategic exercise. When you play solo (I used to do teams with my coworkers when we could get away with it at work, but those days are long gone now) just make the board difficult to impossible to clear and new fun ensues out of old games.

I used to play Cataan (the original and Seafarers) before the roommate that had it moved to the other side of the country. I had gotten him the Seafarers variant for Xmas one year and we played it everyday for about a month straight. I played a card game called Lunch Money at work during that same time, along with Mad Gab, Trivial Pursuit (any version we could get our hands on) and the Xmen version of Monopoly.

I've got a PS2 that I play the Madden and NCAA football series on, and GTA: San Andreas for when I am more violent.

For the PC, I play Links golf sim, and the modern naval combat simulation; Dangerous Waters.

Sometimes I run my own railyard in Trainz.

that about covers my PC gaming.

Lunch Money is awesome. My wife and I played it a lot while she was in the hospital.

Computer games wise I play World of Warcraft. I love MMORPG's but I can only really justify having one account at a time so when my daughter was born a gave up Everquest and went with WoW. Even though I have quite a few other games loaded on my harddrive I pretty much stick with WoW because of the time required. I love my little gnome frost specced mage.

I still have all my M:tG cards (except for the ones that got stolen) I even have a Limited Mox Pearl from when I started playing in acrylic.
