$Nobody Eats For Free$
Just curious, for those of you with kiddies or ones who just happen to keep up with stuff, what does a full priced kid's school lunch cost where you live?
Our's is going up in price from:
Elem. $1.25 to $1.50
Mid. High $1.35 to $1.75
Do your schools actually cook on site or has restaurant/commercial food replaced lunch lady food? Our's are corporate run.

I currently pay $1.25 and have been told it wont go up next year. They cook in the school....the same cook has been doing it of 27 years.....(see Adam Sandler Sloppy Joe for the idea)

My son's elementary lunch is $1.50. If he eats breakfast there, it's an additional $0.80. If *I* want to eat with him, it jumps to $2.35 for my lunch.
In my town, apparently all of the food is cooked at a central location, then trucked to the various locations. Kind of sad...

Well, I wear this net on my head
'Cause my red hair is fallin' out.
I wear these brown orthopedic shoes
'Cause I got a bad case of the gout.
I know you want seconds on the corn dogs,
But there's no reason to shout.
Everybody gets enough food
Down here in Lunch Lady Land.
some things just should never change

Our school lunch in the elementary school is over $2. I can't remember exactly how much, but it is ridiculous for what they get. It is corporate supplied, cooked at school(if you can call it that) and there is talk of letting the company run the whole thing. Right now they just supply, we hire and pay the actual servers. But that could mean some of our employees would lose their benefits or even their jobs. So we just filed a petition to the School Board to keep control of our lunch program.
Do sort of wonder how they can call what they serve "nutritious" as everything is processed and canned. YUCK!!! Good thing I don't have to eat it.

Lunch $1.50
If the kids want an "extra" like another burger or whatever the main course portion of it is.... another $1.00
.50 cents for extra fruit if served in the lunch line..... .
25 cents for an extra milk
1.25 for breakfast if they eat.
for 4 kids last year it was $50 per week to feed them at lunch.
This year it was $40 each week for just lunch... didn't include extras or breakfast.
If you call it this.... cooked on site.... or steamed on site...... don't know...
YUK.

Grades 1-3 can get a Child's Plate with an entree and a side for $2.70. The daily lunch plate for other grades with the same thing is $3.10. They can get the same from the deli bar for anywhere between $2.00 and $2.60. These prices do not include their drink or dessert. They send home this outrageous list of prices at the beginning of each year, i.e. bacon cheeseburger is $2.25, 1 taco is $1.00, a Little Debbie snack is .75.
My child takes her lunch except for Thursdays when lunch is Domino's pizza.

Her school is all one school. 3K thru 12th grade are all in the same building. No one moniters what the little ones buy either. My daughter gained alot of weight when I allowed her a lunch card. When I stopped buying the card and sent her lunch, she dropped all the weight off.

Elementary lunch is $1.30.
I have a comment from one of my son's first experiences with school lunch.
"How was your lunch today?", I said after picking up my son through parent pick up.
Taking a deep breath he replied, "Well Mom the cauliflower tasted like the broccoli and the broccoli tasted like the cauliflower."
"Did you like it?" I answered
"I dunno!" he said in a mumbled voice.
