SEATTLE - A King County Superior Court judge on Friday agreed to lift a no-contact order between Mary Kay Letourneau and her former sixth-grade pupil, Vili Fualaau, with whom she had two children.

The King County Prosecutor's Office did not object to Fualaau's motion that the order be lifted, said spokesman Dan Donohoe. Fualaau is now 21.

Letourneau was released Wednesday after completing a seven-year term for child rape. She's staying with friends at a home in the Boulevard Park neighborhood south of Seattle.

Fualaau was in New York after an appearance on NBC’s "Today" show. He told the show he's looking forward to seeing Letourneau and their two children and deciding if they can have a life together.

He's legally an adult. You'd be hard-pressed to find a state that could legally rule that the no-contact order should stay in effect.

I've been following it and have really mixed feelings. Since I work with abused kids I know what patterns it sets up. He dropped out of school and has no job.

I once thought that they should be allowed to see each other unencumbered by the forces trying to keep them apart. I figured one if not both of them would smarten up and snap out of it.

Then I heard that she's been eyeballin him since he was in the second grade. Well, that's a pretty good sign that she isn't gonna be the one to wake up. And as long as she's around, he's going to be the victim.

I don't have a choice in following the news on the Letourneau case. Every day on the news it's... "Where was Mary Kay spotted today? Find out at 11 o' clock"

I have mixed feelings as well... He's an adult and needs to make his own decisions, but I also think the general public's view about whether they should see each other now would be radically different if their genders were reversed.

I have very conflicting feelings also but they are both consenting adults today, at least in the eyes of the law. As such, they are free to follow their own wishes under the confines of the law. I also agree that the relationship is still not a healthy one but that's why I am here and they are there.

I don't get it and I don't want to either.....

I read she compares their "relationship" to Romeo and Juliet. Well we all know how that turned out. She is a sick piece of shit who has inflicted her obsession onto a young boy so much so that he has not been able to move on. Add to that the fact that she didn't try to avoid pregnancy, her actions as a supposed adult have caused grief for not one, but seven children. It is unfortunate that the young man has become a willing victim to her predatory obsession. Goes to show you she did a hell of a job of grooming him......

This one would test the wisdom of Solomon I just don't know what the right answer is. She's a piece of work, no doubt about it. What she did makes my skin crawl. I teach COLLEGE age students, and I don't think that's a line I can cross. There's no way she was justified.

But now? Hell, they're adults. I'm sure it's not a healthy relationship, but I can find three other unhealthy relationships just on my floor at work...and no-one's legislating against them. Should she be rewarded for her behaviour then or the tenacity of her obsession? No, of course not. But keeping this poor guy sheltered from her for the last decade obviously hasn't done him any good. Maybe letting him get a realistic look at her without all the heightened arousal of the "Romeo and Juliet" syndrome might shake him out of it. Or it might make it worse.

But when there's no obvious right answer in a situation, you have to defend the principle. Here, if you held a gun to my head and made me vote, I'd have to say that adults have the right to make mistakes. Even ones that are screamingly obvious to the rest of us.

But hell yeah, keep her away from kids as much as possible.

Hate to say, but yes, you can't meddle now. There is no legal obstacle to them marrying. I don't know what prompted him to decide to marry her, but that's still his choice. It is probably a mistake, but it's HIS mistake to make.
