After my NST, which went well, again thankfully, James asked my OB if they were still planning on doing my c/s at 36 wks(because of the diabetes they won't let me go past that)--he said yes, BUT that by the end of this month the specialists will probably want to schedule me for an amnio to determine how developed Bryleigh's lungs are. And if they're developed enough, they'll schedule my c/s before 36 wks! As James said, we could be having my baby shower AT THE HOSPITAL!! Especially seeing as my shower is scheduled for June 2nd, and I'll be 36 wks on June 13th! So it could be anytime at that point.

I'm just SO not looking forward to someone coming at my belly with a big freakin' needle! It's hard enough dealing with the nightly insulin shots and being needle phobic.

It's a BOY!!

My friend had to have an amnio and she was very frightened too, but she said it was nowhere near as bad as she was expecting. They were really lovely about it and she had a nurse there whose sole purpose was to hold her hand and be supportive, so try not to fret about it too much.

I hope everything goes well for you Shadowdancer. I hope your babies lungs are OK, I know how gestational diabetes can affect the lungs of a fetus/baby. My wife had it with our daughter.

Anything past 35 weeks (in the states) is considered full term. My daughter actually got to come home on what would have been her 35th week of gestation, and only five weeks in the NICU. They were going to induce on the 35th week if my wife would have made it that far.

How intense is the needle phobia? Is it possible to look into anti-anxiety drug therapy (I have no idea how the various anti-anxiety drugs may affect fetal development)?

I just get cold sweats and nausea when I'm having blood drawn/ IV's run...I've even about passed out on them once (I was 17 and in the hospital with BAD tonsilitis and they blew 4 veins trying to get the IV run...told them if they stuck me one more freakin' time, I was going to puke on them and pass out cuz the room was turning green and starting to spin!).

LOL WI! I had an anesthesiologist with a similar sense of humor during my first c-section! He cracked jokes the whole time he was giving me my spinal and while he was monitoring me during the surgery.
