Ladies - How do you spell relief?
OK...I need to ask some advice of our womenfolk.
I find that I have 2-3 day durations when my breasts are really sore...any type of touch or shift in the breast tissue causes an ache (not just nipple sensitivity). Typically this happens right before my period...but I often get these bouts at other times of the month. After 2-3 days, it goes away for a few weeks, only to appear again.
Anyone else have this problem? For those of you who have days where their breasts are sore to the touch - and sometimes very painful...
Do you have any remedies for this pain? What works -- either to improve the immediate pain, or cut short the overall duration of the pain/sensitivity?
Advice would be GREATLY appreciated -- by me and the twins.

osuche, from what I understand, it's a fluctuation in hormones, which explains why this happens right before your period. I have that happen, too. Another time of the month this may happen is when you ovulate, usually around the middle of your cycle, or any other time there is a hormone fluctuation.
Tylenol does help, as does (from what I've read) like a hot water bottle or other moist heat.
Hope this helps!

I have a long microwavable tube filled with bulgar and herbs (lavender) that I have been know to take to bed with me if I am swollen and sensitive. Another suggestion my Dr gave me was to sleep in a sports bra at this time so the weight does not aggravate it worse.
I know some of you may be too sensitive during those days but I have found a firm massage not nipple play or fondling but deep massage with thumbs running along the contours towards the nipple in strokes can help to ease the achiness too. Depends...sometimes I can endure the begining because the relief is worth it.

i take calcium tablets everyday about four in all, it helps with the water retention and that tipicaly reduces the pain in them and i don't get any signs of PMS which is the best, if they still hurt try an over the counter water pill, it helps cause the water is what made mine swell and get painful

Thanks for the tips...they Tylenol did the trick for tonight, but I may need to try the water pills for extended relief.

Thank you osuche for this thread. You see..I was on the pill from a very early age. Ans never once did I have sore breasts. (I'm 27 now) Well..last summer I went off the pill so Hubby and I could try for a baby. (as of yet unsuccessful) and a couple months after I wnt off I started getting sore breasts. It comes and goes. And sometimes it's downright unbearable. At first when it started I thought it was a preggers sign..lol no such luck. But..to be honest, I was beginning to think I needed to see a Dr....But...thanks to you all I've learned I'm not weird!!
Well..not about this anyway.
Thanks!

My pleasure. I've had the same thoughts, you know.
Ummm...I mean that I'm weird -- not you!

I totally agree with the water retention theory! I've been taking dieuretics for the last year now.....about 1 week before my period.....and it's helped tremendously with breast pain and it also lessens the cramps (a tiny bit)!
My salt intake isn't any different than anyone I know (may even be less cause I don't cook with salt) but I retain water like a two humped camel....BTW! YIKES!

Yep, water retention is likely the cause.
One tip - avoid kittens during those periods. They love to jump on breasts!
