Our cat is officially a dumbass......

Abner is over a year old and in the last year has done some strange things. He had this thing about peeing on one of kiddo's bookbags and he would pee on my favorite slippers, so I started putting them up on a chair at night. Well this morning I found that he got up on the chair and pee'd on my slippers again. He also likes to pee in the beanbag chair so we have to keep that in the closet.

So anyone else have a strange cat? Anyone know why a cat does these things?

Once they pee somewhere you can not reclaim it. Throw out the slippers and get a new book bag.

soak what items you can in white vinegar. Urine is basic; Vinegar is acidic---the two will cancel each other out. If it is a white item that is getting urinated on you can also use pure lemon juice.

You can try to save these items if kiddo is attached to her bag, and you like your slippers, if Abner still pees, then like Lilith said throw them out.

Rug and carpet stains, again I reccommend a high concentration of hot water and white vinegar on a carpet cleaner.

The other thing to do is to change the boxes every day for a week or two.

Hope that helps

Tossed the bookbag awhile back but the slippers I just keep washing, could use a new pair anyway so will toss them too. Ya he's fixed Steph, yup 2 litter boxes the big baby.

Thanks.......we did use vinger on the carpet and then set stuff on top of those spots.

Luckily, my cat's always used the box. The only time he didn't was when he was very sick with a #2 issue and occassionally he'd miss the box within inches.

I found this... and it might be helpful for you. http://www.stickypaws.com/ie.cfm

My cat just likes to attack and bite. He's incredibly unsocial and naughty.

You might want to check that he is not having some sort of urinary tract issue. One of mine had a lot of trouble with it. Had to change to a specific food.

Well he has to go in for a shot so I'll talk to the vet about everything but it seems more like him marking territory or something. He don't do it alot just now and then. I just can't believe he got up on the chair to get them, in the past things were on the floor.

Maddy, Abner likes to bite and attack too but he can be lovey when he wants. Thanks for the link.

We had a cat some years back that I know was mental! Every time we left the bathroom door open while running bath water he would run an jump in it. He would jump in the toilet and just set there if we left the lid up cat loved water!

Was he a Bengal breed? They reportedly love water....

Soda, is it possible the cat is stressed out because you guys have been traveling (PAGAN, other trips, kids gone, etc) over the summer? When my cat got stressed or felt abandoned, she would pee or poop certain places as her way of protesting our behavior. Doesn't make it right...just was a reflection of my cat's emotional stress when we left for longer peroids of time.

Well, just had some excitement, Abner was out in the screened in porch and another cat pushed the back screen in and came in and attacked Abner. We heard alot of growling and stuff. Boog got the other cat out and finally got Anber out from under the wicker couch. Abner looks pretty good for not having claws.

Shame on you wyndhy. LOL

Too funny Jay-t.

Don't know osuche.....it's a possibility.

Now I gotta try and get kiddo back to sleep......I scared her when I yelled for Boog.

Hmmm...peeing where they shouldn't when a cat is neutered and has plenty of access to clean litter boxes and no urinary infection is usually as sign of a cat in distress.

And after your last post, it sounds like we've found the source of that stress: your baby is being bullied!

If it's possible, find a way of allowing your kitty to have some safe time outside where he isn't at risk of running into the other moggy. If you know to whom it belongs, you could even gently approach them, explain the situation and see if you could reach an agreement whereby their moggy is kept in during certain hours to allow yours some free time outside to have fun.

Making your cat feel secure again is your goal, and reading up on cat behaviour will give you a clearer idea of how to do this. I can highly recommend 'The Cat Whisperer' by Claire Bessant, if it's available in the US. It helped us cure the problem of Felix peeing on our bed in full view of us when he was a kitten. I suppose you have to think of it a bit like if your child was bed wetting - symptomatic of a deeper issue.
