Time for a signature cutback!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I just want a rant! I have been surfing the threads and it seems that some peoples signatures are like 10 times longer than any of the posts!

How about we have a maximum length on the signatures - say 3 lines or something???????

If you have lots of links you want to post why not do them one after the other rather than each on a new line!

I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but tough ****.

When I got started on the Internet a decade ago, before the web took off, and messages were really limited to e-mail and USENET (and similar news systems), there was an informal "four line .signature" rule. When I've used a .sig on any BBS, Web forum, or other board (including Usenet), I've tended to follow this. These days, I tend not to use any .sig's at all. Too much trouble to keep updated rather than just typing 'vi .signature' somewhere.

Edit: I thought this was the case and it is. You CAN turn off options to view user's signatures AND avatars in the forums.

Excellent idea for a thread Rygel!

I think you'll find quite a few people will vote, as I know that there are opinions on this but not many people will express their opinions by posting for fear of upsetting their fellow Pixie members and friends.

yes you can turn off the signatures.... I think some uniformity of font size might be nice but I love reading what people have elected to use. I know I have tried to condense mine some cause I thought it was taking up alot of space.

Yeah..those people with the long signatures need to know what's up!!!...

...*looks down*....

Dammit!!!

I can see your point Rygel, and to some extent I agree with you; but, given that you have the option of turning them off, I say leave 'em alone!! Personally, I've often thought mine was a bit long, but it was written to express my feelings for Celticangel and it means a lot to me that my feelings for her are "out there" for her (and any/everyone else) to see!! {Well, not the LAST line, obviously!:))

I would guess that everyone's sig. is important to them in some way, and I reckon we should all be allowed to express ourselves how we want... like I said, you can always turn them off!!

Just my tuppence worth! :)

The sigs are a way for people to express themselves.....i enjoy reading them...and i can scroll like a demon *LOL*...so i can just pass em by if i'm in a hurry

My vote: Leave them alone!

Turn them off if you find them annoying

Rygel, darling just because you have nothing to say that doesn't mean you should be able to muzzle the rest of us who do.

You gotta stand of something or you'll fall for anything.

Always, (and PMSing)

Lilith 06-12-2003 10:15 PM

Would that be the same cock you chased that poor man with in chat today???? :o;)

BamaKyttn 06-12-2003 10:21 PM

He liked it. he doesn't know he did but tonight, in a cold sweat he'll wake up and know he wants his dick turned inside out and then to be fucked in the ass so my pink strapon can strokie his prostate and his penis at the same time.

I don't have a Problem with them..................I kinda Like reading them too...........................tells me a lot about a Person.

Sharni Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheyanne 06-12-2003 11:54 PM

I also enjoy reading the sigs. Some are quite funny, some are really serious. And as the responses before me, they do tell you little about a person.

FussyPucker 06-13-2003 02:19 AM

I'll admit that yes it did used to bug me a bit but.............I got over it now if I wanna read 'em I do.......If I don't I scroll on by :D

Of course I rarely keep the same sig for 2 weeks and it's usually pretty short.........but that's just cos it represents me.........short n funny to look at :p
