Member's meet, PAGAN XIV.

Some of the newer members may not be aware that there is a (mostly) annual meet and greet called PAGAN Pixies Annual Gathering At N***, in this case, National Capital.

This year's will be in DC 25-28 July, with a view, as ever, to strengthening the links between members. It will be a low key affair.

The business side of it is hosted in the members only PAGAN thread.

I will be there, and hope to see many of you there.

If anyone knows a nice dark Guinness-style beer in DC, please let me know. :)

Guinness itself is imported, and readily available in this area.

We've missed the last few after making several in a row. If you can go, do so. You'll meet some great people and no doubt have a great time! It's well worth it.

BTW, since you'll be in the area ... Aberdeen Proving Grounds northeast of Baltimore is a fantastic place to visit. An army base, it has an enormous collection of tanks and other vehicles and a fabulous building filled with infantry weapons of all kinds ... it well worth seeing ... even if you're not a military buff, you'll be amazed at their collection. It's like stepping through history. Now, I've heard that it was moving to Ft. Lee in Virginia, so you may want to check on that before you make the drive. It may be even closer.

Aberdeen is on my list, but it's a several day project. Not this time, I think.

I'll tell you about it. I spent quit a bit of time at APG in a life long long ago. LOL

:coffee:

I've never actually made it up to APD. Too busy with other stuff. Maybe some day, though.

Oldfart 06-09-2014 07:27 AM

I'll be interested to see how it compares to the Land Warfare Museum the Brits have at Duxford.

dicksbro 06-09-2014 11:33 PM

When we were last there, we met a gentleman that had just been to the Imperial War Museum in London. He thought Aberdeen was markedly better ... but ... then I've never been to the Imperial War Museum.

Oldfart 06-10-2014 05:12 AM

The Imperial War Museum is like the Smithsonian. Everywhere you turn, you trip over an annex.

gekkogecko 06-10-2014 01:57 PM

Better than tripping a land mine.

Oldfart 06-10-2014 08:15 PM

The experience lasts longer as well.

The IWM in London is not a large facility, but when you understand the context of each piece in there, a whole day of wonder can be spent peering in the cabinets.

Oldfart 06-29-2014 06:34 PM

Back on target, I won't have a cell phone until PF gets there on the Thursday, so any contact will need to be through the hotel.

dicksbro 06-29-2014 11:56 PM

Let us know the hotel and when you expect to arrive. Who knows, we might just give you a call. :)

Check the PAGAN thread in the Members Only section DB.
