Not political, but honest questions.
I wonder how history will 'term' some current events.
Knowing the Nazis called their actions "The Final Solution" and the Jewish people refer to it as "The Holocaust", what will Israel call their present action and what name will the Palestinians know it by? |
Good 'wonderings' PF. Thats what they are. Questions you don't really expect an answer to, observations made every day, are you the only one to wonder this stuff? And in the overall scheme of things does it matter? i think they do matter, for don't we learn from history. Just as WWI will always be called 'the big war'. i wonder if fighting in 'the big' one was any different than any other wars. Not the weapons but the men, thier feelings, was one scarier then another?

I think (hope) these are the sort of questions many are asking. And I agree, it does matter! I would argue that we learn form history though; it seems that the same problems, arguments and escalations to war happen all the time, with very little, if any, recourse to history and what peaceful resolutions there may have been to repeat. Of course, part of the problem is there have been very few genuinely peaceful resolutions to conflicts around the world throughout history; almost always, it has been survival of the fittest, i.e. the best armed/most bloodthirsty. Thus it has ever been I'm afraid. DM |
