So we were sitting at dinner and he asked me for ideas. So I just asked him to explain her for me. Which he did and procceeded to say "there is no place on earth thats special enough for me to ask her".....so I suggested he didn't ask on earth.

2 months later they were on a plane to Hawaii for summer break for a much needed 2 week holiday. Before getting on the plane he had to "go to the bathroom" at which time he spoke with the stewardist who was more then happy to help him.

At 12,000 feet once the plane had leveled off he got up again to use the restroom and procceeded tot he front of the cabin where he took the loudspeaker mike and explained that "There is no place on earth special enough for me to ask you this, so this is the closest I could get you to heaven".

aaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww that is sooooooooo special. :lurv:

Sounds like you Americans place far more emphasis on this kind of thing than we Brits do.

I've been engaged twice and the first time it was something we'd talked about for ages and just knew it was going to happen. We went to choose the ring together and got the jeweller to put it aside for us while he saved up for it. It eventually went on my finger on News Years Eve 1999. He asked me 'officially' that night too, but forgot to go down on one knee.

After that relationship didn't work out I was totally off the idea of marriage so I wasn't expecting Fussy to ask me anytime soon. Then some friends got engaged and it got me thinking about marriage, kids etc and I realised that all of our talk about getting married 'some day' was going to have to be sooner than I thought, since I'm not 18 anymore! I e-mailed him with my thoughts and for three days we kept joking about it until, walking around the supermarket, we finally convinced each other we were both serious. We sealed the deal with a Haribo jelly ring from a packet of Starmix and then chose a real ring that weekend. Even in the shop I kept saying 'Are you sure about this?'. He bought the ring and I haven't stopped admiring it yet, over a year later! LOL

I don't know about that...Mayhem's proposal at StoneHenge seemed awful romantic.

And actually Lou there is definitely a hint of romance and sweetness to the way you and Fussy decided to go for it! But I might be biased ;)

LMAO - I think you're biased.....an e-mail saying 'Look we're not getting any younger, we know we both want kids, so I think we ought to get married' doesn't seem very romantic to me! LOL
